Is 7 days enough for Alaska? ›

You can do a lot in Alaska in seven days. You can ride the Alaska Railroad, flightsee around Denali, kayak in a glacial lagoon. You can visit Denali National Park, Kenai Fjords National Park, and maybe even Katmai or Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.

10 Days. This is a very popular vacation length, and no wonder: 10 days is enough time to combine a cruise with a land tour and experience both sides of Alaska. Trips of this length usually include a whirlwind tour of some of Alaska's popular interior and Southcentral destinations, plus a 7-day cruise.

Most people plan at least three days in Anchorage during their Alaska travels. No matter how long you have, there are many ways to explore. Eat your way through Anchorage, dive into Alaska Native cultures, enjoy the great outdoors, search for bears, or see just how much you can fit into one day under the midnight sun.

When should I book my trip to Alaska? If it's a pretty involved trip of say 10 days or more, or if you want something exclusive, you should definitely book before New Year's to be ahead of the pack. If it's a typical tour, six months in advance is probably going to work.

Take a closer look at what made it so pricey. I thought I got a great deal this summer when I booked a seven-day Alaska cruise for $799 a person. I spent $2,800 on excursions, WiFi, a drinks package, port fees, and specialty dining. Even though I paid $2,000 more than the base price, it was worth it.

The amount of time you spend in Denali depends on your needs, time, and itinerary. When designing itineraries for our guests, we usually plan 2 or 3 nights in the Denali area. Two nights are usually enough if you want to take a bus tour, take a hike, and learn more about the park.
