There is a black wire that connected to the chassis of the old factory stereo on my dodge. The aftermarket stereo woudn’t work until I connected the black wire to the “amp power” on the aftermarket radio. Now if I turn the volume up past 50% the new stereo shuts off. Any ideas?

Hutch, we don’t know for sure but it is possible. Vehicles equipped with Bose audio systems have pre-amps at each speaker. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I was just wondering if the factory dodge stereo have pre-amps for the speakers? I have read other sites and some say there is, and located in the doors. Just seeing if there is any truth to that as the factory speakers are slowly going in my truck and there not blown.
